Shasta #8 36 Views of the Mountain SERIES (2024)

"When I first caught sight of (Mount Shasta) over the braided folds of the Sacramento Valley I was fifty miles away and afoot, alone and weary. Yet all my blood turned to wine, and I have not been weary since." - John Muir, 1874

I feel the same way as Muir- my heart sings when I see Mt Shasta. Of course this is looking South- the opposite way that he was facing. But I've had a notion for a while now, as a tip of the hat to Hokusai. The Japanese artist created 36 views of Mount Fuji. These were prints about the size of a placemat. The great wave off Kanagawa is the most famous. But each of them honors the mountain. However, on the US West Coast, we have so many beautiful Volcanos. 36 paintings is a lot... but I have the rest of my life. This one is #8. Shout out to my Canadian brother Reg Ham for finding me this beautiful Raven, our model.
