Credit for the idea of doing a photoshoot on Hellbent Racing's expedition to the Isle of Man goes to racing compatriot Simon Reilly. YOU HAVE TO! he said one evening in June.

HB's Hellfire McDermott suggested that I call Race Marshall Organizer Keith McKay on the Island. Keith says call Manx Grand Prix Deputy Chief Scrutineer Alex Aitchison, who says I will be mad busy with responsibilities, but good friend Lee Allen is here (on the island) with a van and can have said Race Machines- a Manx Norton and a Jawa Road Racer in the back to ferry them to the shoot location. So major credit to everyone, including John Wood who supplied the Triton that got Jonathan Stuart to the location. Simon and Jonathan shooting, and a volunteer photographer in the background.

English racer Peter Darvill is seen in the middle on our featured machine, on which he took second place in the Senior, (500 Race) in 1962 and 1963.
He
won the Junior Manx GP (250 Race) outright on the AJS.

the Manx has Open Valve Springs, so the jets spray oil onto the valve stems, and all over the Rider... so the foam sleeves inside the springs

the lean angle is telling : flattened pipe describes how hard the riders were pushing in the 50s....
