Although without a number, the engine is definitely a 250 F3, the frame was almost certainly originally a 175 F3. My interpretation of the history of this motorcycle is that at some stage a 250 F3 engine was installed in a 175 F3 chassis. The engine appears to be 1961, (or possibly 1960 if it was one of the 250 prototypes)- the chassis possibly 1959 or 1960, with some later equipment, such as 1962 front brake. |
As the Villa brothers were factory riders, this combination of components probably occurred at the factory prior to the bikes shipping to Argentina. So while not an original 250 F3, the provinance is nonetheless extremely interesting, is this bike was possibly a 175 F3, raced by the Villa brothers between 1960 and 1962, at some stage factory fitted with a 250 F3 engine. |
