Invisible under the side-cover, how the Air Filter breathes backwards-inside out - through an ultra-light vacuum tube.

The fenders, number plates, seat and tank are 1974 Honda Elsinore. The engine is a 1962 Honda 250cc twin (1st over bore) with 180 degree crankshaft and a CL72 close ratio transmission gear set. The carburetors are stock Keihin and a unique aluminum air box keeps it breathing clean. Buck Murphy looked at the air box and said, "That's different, it breaths backwards?"

The ignition is running dual points with constant loss from a small battery. Since there is no charging or oil filter assemblies, both left and right engine cases are narrowed by hand and re-welded for rider comfort. The cylinder head is ported, rocker arms are lightened, heavy duty valve springs are in place and a set of camshafts from Web-Cam are controlling the valves. The cam timing is adjustable after modifications were done to the sprocket assembly. The pistons are stock Honda with some aluminum added to the domes for a compression boost. The clutch has been beefed up to handle the increase in Hp and eliminate slippage. This is a racer under development and will be evolving more in 2009.

All of this work was performed by Bill Rowland Sr, including the painting of the bike. Some machining work was performed by friends and the innocent shall remain unnamed.(Sorry Buck, your names already in here)

The header is a hand made 2 to 1 with a smooth sounding straight pipe exit. The charging system has been removed, along with the oil filter components.

The other 2 bikes (see below photo) are short trackers dad built. The one on the far side of the photo went to the Houston Astrodome national with a young Randy Skiver on board.
